This summer elementary kids will engage in a summer series by Empowering Living called “Living On The Edge.” The principles of Chip Ingram’s r12 series on Romans 12 are communicated to kids in a fun, relevant and life-changing way. Here is an overiew of the lessons:
Lesson 1: Loving God and Loving Others. Each child will learn the greatest commandment is to love God and love others. They will also hear how to have a personal relationship with God. Matthew 22:37-39
Lesson 2: I Surrender to God Daily. Through Abraham’s example, each child will learn to surrender to God’s plan for their life and to trust God daily. Romans 12:1
Lesson 3: Victory Over the World. Through Daniel’s example, each child will learn what it means to be changed into a person who really loves God and wants to serve Him daily. Romans 12:2
Lesson 4: I Learn to Be Humble. Each child will learn in a practical way what it means to be humble by looking at the life of Moses. They will learn to put others first. Romans 12:3
Lesson 5: Noticing the Needs of Others. Through the story of Jonathan and David, each child will understand the importance of friendship and serving others. Romans 12:10
Lesson 6: Giving Out Good When Things Get Bad. By learning about the life of Joseph, each child will understand the importance of showing forgiveness to others that have hurt them. Romans 12:21
This is a video-based teaching series with live worship and audience participation games. Check out the first video in the series at

This weekend, June 28/29, is our last weekend to collect gently used kid’s books on behalf of Local Impact, part of Tysons Outreach Ministries. All books are being given to under-resourced students at a local elementary school who have been participating in a Local Impact afterschool program which provides tutoring and Bible teaching. They are also making plans for a summer outreach program. Help us fill the last shelf by bringing used kid’s books to your child’s Large Group room. If kids fill the shelf, they will celebrate in Kid’s Quest with a cool treat on July 5/6!
Little Adventurers who are or will be 3 years old by September 30, 2014 through completed 4th graders move up to new classes, July 12/13. Are we ready for you?
Family Enrollment Forms: If MBC is your church home and you have not previously enrolled, go to mbctysons.org/kqenroll and click on the link for the online enrollment or pick up a Family Enrollment Form at check-in. Not sure if you’re enrolled? If you are already enrolled you should have a permanent plastic key tag with your emergency LED (Lighted Electronic Display) number on it. The LED number is how we notify you during services of an emergency involving your child – memorize it!
Family Update Cards: If you just need to update your family’s current info (new address, addition to the family, change in health concerns, etc.), pick up a Family Update Card at check-in and return it to a Check-in Greeter.
Class Location Maps: Your child may be moving to a new floor. Pick up an updated map on July 12/13 at check-in stations to be sure of where you’re headed. If you need assistance getting to your new location, ask a Check-in Greeter for an escort.
Small Groups: If your preschool through 5th Grade child is already enrolled and you consistently attend a service time, your child can be placed in a permanent Small Group (meeting with the same leader and children every week). Go to mbctysons.org/kqenroll to download and print a Small Group Enrollment Form or pick one up at check-in. Do this by July 6 if you want your kids to start out in their new group on Promotion Weekend.
Special Concerns: Does your child have health/allergy concerns or need accommodations for successful integration? If yes, make sure you’ve completed a Detailed Health Form, Epinephrine Injector Administration Permission Form, or Special Needs Intake Form (whichever is applicable) at mbctysons.org/kqspecial so we’re ready to provide proper care for your child.
What are you doing this summer? Would you like to be part of something bigger than yourself? Something fun, exciting and important? Something that will make you say, “I’ve had the time of my life!” by the end of it?
Spiritual growth doesn’t take a vacation. We keep Kid’s Quest summer programming going strong to encourage kids to continue growing in their knowledge of who Jesus is and learning skills to equip them to be fully devoted disciples of Him. But many of our regular Kid’s Quest volunteers also need to take a break to rest and renew their passion for serving our kids. Would you join us this summer by serving in a class? We have opportunities to serve with all age groups.
To learn more, go to mbctysons.org/kqvolunteer or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-639-2000, x1012.
