Christmas Casting Call November 6, 2012
Posted by rshort in : 1-Hot News, 7-Volunteer , comments closedWould your child like to use his or her creative talents to lead families in worshipping God and celebrating Jesus’ birth on Christmas Eve? We are conducting an open casting call for youth aged 8 to 18 years for various roles in Family Christmas Eve services which will be Monday, Dec. 24 at 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. We are specifically looking for singers, actors, dancers, gymnasts, and jugglers to take part in the services, a live nativity scene in the lobby, and video and audio recordings to be used in the production.
Auditions are Friday, Nov. 16, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Saturday, Nov. 17, 9: 30 am – 3:30 pm. Advance sign up for an audition appointment is required. Review the information below and contact Stephanie Quick at 703-770-2931 or stephanie.quick@mcleanbible.org to schedule an appointment.
Audition appointments are first come, first served. If appointments fill up, we will do our best to expand the auditions to accomodate all who wish to be seen. This will only be available if all original appointments are filled first.
Parts Available:
- 15 Soloist & Ensemble singers: Ensemble singers do not need to be experienced or of soloist quality. We are looking for children who can carry a tune and sing with a choir. Some children will sing live and some will sing for a recording that will be used in the service.
- 20-30 Actors: dramatically present Luke 2, play a role in the Pastor’s message, and participate in a live nativity scene in the main lobby.
- 3-5 Experienced Ballet Dancers: part of the Luke 2 presentation.
- 3 Gymnasts
- 2 Jugglers
Requirements:
- Singers should visit mbctysons.org/kqaudtion to download the music and lyrics to prepare. Singers will sing the 3 songs acapella in the audition.
- Actors should visit mbctysons.org/kqaudition to download the script for Luke 2 and be prepared to “act it” as if you’re telling an exciting story that just happened to you in the audition. It is not necessary to memorize the script.
- Ballet Dancers will learn a combination at the audition. Come dressed in clothes you can move in and ballet slippers. Leotards and tights are not necessary.
- Gymnasts should be prepared to demonstrate one of the following: walking on your hands for an extended period of time or an aerial.
- Jugglers should bring something to juggle and be prepared to show us your skills.
- Everyone will be asked to sing “Happy Birthday” and read the Luke 2 narration piece. We want to see how expressive you are and how well you take direction.
Watch last year’s Luke 2 dramatization to get a sense of what to expect for this year’s production.
We are also looking for people interested in helping the behind the scenes production: props, costumes, sets, etc. If interested, contact Stephanie Quick at 703-770-2931 or stephanie.quick@mcleanbible.org.
Creative Arts Club Open September 18, 2012
Posted by rshort in : 1-Hot News , comments closedCalling all 1st-6th Grade children who love to SING, ACT, and DANCE! Creative Arts Club (CAC) is the club for you and is open to new members. CAC meets Sundays at 9:00 am in Room 1410 (1st floor).
CAC is the children’s choir of MBC sponsored by the Creative Arts Ministry. They meet weekly from September through May. It’s a place where children learn how to praise the Lord using their creative talents which includes elements of dance, drama, and singing. There are a number of reasons why participating in CAC may appeal to your family:
- Your children will have an opportunity to use their creative talents to worship and glorify God.
- It’s an alternative to repeating Kid’s Quest for families attending the 9:00 am and 10:45 am services back-to-back.
- With the arts being cut back or eliminated from more and more schools, CAC can be an outlet for children to explore their creativity and perform.
- Perhaps you have a worship-leader-in-training in your family! Participation in CAC gives your family a peek behind-the-scenes at how a worship service is put together and appreciation for what is involved.
The registration fee is $35 for an individual child or $60 for a family of multiple children. Click here to enroll now. Scholarships are available. Regular attendance is required. Registration closes Oct. 20.
Whether you participate in CAC or not, be on the lookout for CAC performances. They’ll be performing in services Oct. 6/7, Nov. 4 (Edge Service only), Nov. 10/11, Dec. 22/23, Feb. 9/10, and Mar. 23/24 as well as presenting a spring musical on April 12. For more information visit the CAC Blog at http://mbccactysons.blogspot.com/ or contact Dorie Howell at 703-766-8399 or dorie.howell@mcleanbible.org.
