Children’s Baptism February 24, 2010

Last Saturday, February 20, 19 children were baptized in a moving ceremony & reception, the final step of our Starting Zone program which helps children get started in their personal relationship with Christ.  Denny Harris, Executive Pastor of MBC, had this to say about his part in the Baptism:

“One of the high-lights of my ministry is the opportunity I have from time to time to baptize Kid’s Quest youngsters.  This weekend, I had the privilege of baptizing 19 boys and girls.  Any question about the depth of their understanding of their faith is answered as each one shares a bit of their own story on video as part of the process.  One little boy said while he was talking to his mom about asking Jesus to come into his heart, he thought he heard someone knocking and thought it was someone at their door.  Then, he said, he realized that it was his heart, so he asked Him to come in.  Oh, to have a simple faith like that of a child.  Pray that these children would continue to grow in their faith and serve Him well in their generation.”

Please do pray along with us for these 19 children as they celebrate this special milestone moment and continue to grow in their lifelong quest to become fully devoted followers of Christ.  If you’d like help in talking to your child about starting a personal relationship with Christ or would like to see your child baptized, click here for information about Starting Zone.  The next class dates are March 6/7 and March 20/21.

Bring your Valentine to our re-scheduled KIDstuff show on Sunday, February 14 at 12:30 pm in the Smith Center.  As long as the weather does not disrupt our Saturday rehearsal, the show will go on!  Check back to our website at http://mbctysons.org/kidstuff for any changes.  We’re planning some football-inspired fun and a look at the virtue Honor, letting someone know you see how valuable they really are, by taking a look at the story of David and Goliath.

KIDstuff is an engaging 45-minute creative arts production that teaches children and their families about God through live theater, rockin’ worship music, video, dance, and games.  Each show hi-lights a virtue to build character in your kids and introduce you to the same virtue taught in elementary classes.  Siblings of all ages as well as friends and their families are all welcome to participate.  The show’s content can stand alone without a child having attended an elementary class before.  Whole family participation enables parents to learn the virtues and have continuing conversations at home.   Click here to learn more about KIDstuff or click here to see clips of past shows.

Free event.  No tickets or RSVP necessary.  KIDstuff t-shirts and Family Times Virtue packs on sale afterwards for $10 apiece.
