CUE Box is a monthly resource that gives parents intentional “cues” to use certain times of the day to further their children’s spiritual growth. The box is filled with Bible stories, discussion starters, activities, videos, collectible cards, and more. The October CUE Box will be about the virtue Initiative: seeing what needs to be done and doing it. Full details, pictures of the contents, and an overview video at mbctysons.org/cuebox.

 T-shirt 200x200 with Title

Kid’s Quest & KIDstuff t-shirts are available in youth and adult sizes. We also have an infant-size Kid’s Quest onesie. Wearing these in your schools and neighborhoods can lead to opportunities to talk to friends and neighbors about Jesus or to invite them to church.

Kid’s Quest items are also available in The Bookstore and now in the MBC Cafe, too!

KIDstuff is Back! September 24, 2010

KIDstuff Title Block 200x200

KIDstuff is a fun and engaging 45-minute creative arts production that teaches elementary children and their families about God through live theater, rockin’ worship music, video, dance, and zany audience participation games. Each show hi-lights a virtue to build character in kids. This same virtue is taught in our weekend elementary classes for that month.

Although each show’s theme centers on the same virtues taught in our elementary classes, siblings of all ages as well as friends and their families are all welcome to come and participate. The show’s content can stand alone without your child having attended an elementary class before. Whole family participation enables parents to learn the virtues and have continuing conversations at home.

The next show is Sunday, October 3 at 12:30 pm in the Smith Center. The virtue we’ll be learning about is Initiative: seeing what needs to be done and doing it.

AND…stop by our resource booth in the Smith Center lobby before or after KIDstuff to pick up 2 new products to help parents continue to build Godly character in their kids and spark further conversation at home.

Stating Zone Logo 2010

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start in helping your kids grasp the full significance of who Jesus is. That’s why Kid’s Quest offers Starting Zone, a 4-step path to equip parents to guide their children towards starting a personal relationship with Jesus that leads to children’s baptism, a celebration when kids are ready to publicly declare their decision to trust Jesus. The first step is to attend one of the Start Your Engines classes. Classes are for both parents and kids to attend together. The Gospel message is presented and parents receive next-step tools to use at home. Our age recommendation is 7 years & up but you can bring your kids whenever you feel they’re ready and you can repeat the class as many times as you like to help solidify your child’s growing faith. Classes are free but please register in advance so we can make sure we have enough materials for all participants.

Creative Arts Club September 15, 2010

CACblogheader

Registration is now open for Creative Arts Club (CAC), the children’s choir of MBC for children in 1st-6th Grade. CAC is a weekly group that meets from September through May. It’s a place where children learn how to praise the Lord using their creative talents which includes elements of dance, drama, and singing. There are a number of reasons why participating in CAC may appeal to your family:

1. Your children will have an opportunity to use their creative talents to worship and glorify God.

2. It’s an alternative to repeating Kid’s Quest for families attending the 9:00 am and 10:45 am services back-to-back.

3. With the arts being cut back or eliminated from more and more schools, CAC can be an outlet for children to explore their creativity and perform.

4. Perhaps you have a worship-leader-in-training in your family! Participation in CAC gives your family a peek behind-the-scenes at how a worship service is put together and appreciation for what is involved.

The registration fee is $40 for an individual child or $60 for a family of multiple children. Click here to enroll now or stop at Ticket Central during services on weekends.  Scholarships are available. Regular attendance is required. Registration closes October 10.

Whether you participate in CAC or not, mark your calendars for CAC singing in main services October 30/31 and performing their musical called “Under God’s Sea in 3-D” on March 25. For more information visit the CAC Blog at http://mbccactysons.blogspot.com/ or contact Dorie Howell at 703-766-8399 or dorie.howell@mcleanbible.org.
