With Thanks, From Kid’s Quest December 30, 2010

Posted by rshort in : 5-Holidays , comments closed

As the new year approaches the Kid’s Quest staff would like to first, thank God for His many blessings in 2010 and second, thank all of you who have been a part of our ministry in some way. We are so grateful for all of you families who attend each week and give us the opportunity to speak God’s Word into your lives. We look forward to strengthening the bond between us, church and family, that enable us to have a greater influence on the spiritual growth of the next generation.

We are also very thankful for you many faithful servants who give your time and talents every week.  Whether you are on the front lines or behind-the-scenes, your service is so very much appreciated! And even when we sometimes fail in our human ways to always recognize everything you do for the ministry, nothing goes unnoticed by God and His rewards for you are rich and everlasting. We look forward to growing in our relationships with you and continually building our skills together to increase our effectiveness.

And a big thank you to all of you ministry friends who have supported us through your prayers, your encouraging words, your gifts of resources or finances, or your partnership, supporting us through your own ministries. Thank you for your kindness.

We look forward to praising God with you for all that He will do for us and through us in 2011. Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!

With thanks, from Kid’s Quest

CUE Box For Christmas December 17, 2010

Cue Box For Xmas 249x249

Looking for that last-minute stocking stuffer? Need a simple, inexpensive gift to give to another family? Desperately seeking a way to get your own kids’ minds off their Christmas Wish Lists and focused on the true meaning of Christmas? Consider purchasing a CUE Box!

CUE Box is a home resource that gives parents intentional “cues” to use certain times of the day they’re already spending with their kids to further their spiritual growth. The box is filled with Bible stories, discussion starters, activities, videos, collectible cards, and access to a family-friendly website full of additional content.

This month’s CUE Box teaches the virtue Joy: finding a way to be happy even when things don’t go your way — a good virtue for our kids to remember when they don’t get everything they might have hoped for under the Christmas tree. This is the same virtue we’re teaching in Kid’s Quest elementary classes this month however the CUE Box content can stand alone – making this a terrific gift to share with another family.

Listen to these testimonies from two families that are enjoying their CUE Box experience:

The Densley Family:

Densleys

“Sunday on riding home we discussed with the kids what their services were about and immediately came home to watch the videos on the DVD in the CUE box. The kids of course had to watch them all. They then wanted to immediately get online and check out the website and games (probably to avoid cleaning/chores, but hey whatever gets them there).”

The Carr Family:

“Love the CUE box…Our schedule is loaded. We come together on Sundays for dinner as a family. This past Sunday we finished dinner on the porch and passed around the box. The kids picked a question off the lid and chose a person to ask. They made eye contact. They listened. They laughed. We all did. I asked them to hold that thought while I went in and got paper to write down their answers. I was so impressed with how wise my kids are growing. I definitely gained respect for my kids. This is an easy way to honor God…We have enjoyed the CUE box and there are so many things to do in it and online. It is a great resource. It was a little bit hard to get through all the activities. To me, that is a great problem to have. As far as assisting me with my own character-check, I can tell you it has made a difference.”

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS SALE

CUE Box is available for purchase in the MBC Bookstore and just in time for Christmas we’re offering it at a special sales price of $9 (regularly $11.99) this weekend, December 18/19 as well as Christmas Eve, December 24. So we hope you’ll spread a little Joy and bring home a CUE Box for Christmas!

Give A Gift Of Warmth & Joy December 11, 2010

Coats For Kids 200x200

We’re nearing the end of our current Missions Project supporting The Clothing Shop, an MBC Ministry, through our children’s offering and collecting used coats for kids. A big thanks to all of you who have already contributed. If you still wish to participate, bring in coats by Sunday, December 26.

Coats do not need to be in perfect condition.  Nothing goes to waste!  The Clothing Shop coordinates with other organizations so that any items that can’t be used “as is” are either mended or recycled for reusable parts. Drop off coats in the collection bins at Kid’s Quest check-in stations.

While it may be easier for you to sort through and gather the extra coats on your own, we encourage you not to pass up the opporturunity for a teachable moment with your kids. This month’s virtue we’re teaching in elementary is Joy: finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go your way. There are many families in financial need right now who may be struggling to find joy in their situation. Have your kids participate in looking for all the extra coats hanging out in your closets that are no longer needed. Then share with them how giving these coats to others is one way they can bring joy to another this winter. Their coat may be the answer to another child’s prayer! Also, challenge them to see the many blessings surrounding them. Help them see how much God has given them, including His most precious gift of all, His son Jesus. It’s because of our hope in Jesus that we can find joy and contentment in all situations. An excellent reminder for all of us as we prepare to celebrate Christmas!
