Story Graphic small

Everybody’s life tells a story. And, as Christians, our stories are not our own. We are part of God’s Big Story, to tell a tale of restoration and redemption through Jesus Christ. What’s your story?

We invite you to follow our new video series ”What’s Your Story?” to celebrate stories of how God is at work in and through our Kid’s Quest volunteers. Our ministry could not function without these amazing shining stars and we so so grateful to be part of the story God is telling through each of their lives.

Our series begins with our introduction video and our first story video. Come back often to youtube.com/mbckidsquest for new stories.

KQ-FallRecruiting 338x190

School has re-started and the smell of fall is in the air. For those of you who have been away over the summer, welcome back! Many of our awesome volunteers are back, too. And a big thank you to the many who stayed to serve over the summer as well! Kid’s Quest could not function without volunteers and we’re so grateful for those God has called to serve in our ministry. Enjoy this special tribute video to our amazing Shining Stars.*

How about you? Is God calling you to Serve Now in Kid’s Quest, too? Every weekend there’s something exciting happening in Kid’s Quest as we journey together in the quest to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Get ready for us to share our excitement about the Great God we serve on September 17/18. You’ll be seeing many of our kids serving God in main services!

Would you prayerfully consider serving God in Kid’s Quest, too, this school year? Stop by our table in the lobby to talk to one of our Ambassadors about open opportunities or visit our volunteer website at mbctysons.org/kqvolunteer.

P.S. – If you enjoy our kids’ presence in the services September 17/18, would you please write a kind note about it on the bottom of the Bulletin Response Card? We would greatly appreciate it!

 * Philippians 2:12-16: ”Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life…”

Are you the parent of a 2nd Grader?

We all know that learning to read and memorize God’s Word is important to a child’s spiritual growth. Kid’s Quest would like to support you in helping your child fall in love with exploring God’s Word. Therefore, we want to provide an opportunity for all 2nd Graders to receive a free Bible in a Bible Presentation on stage in main auditorium services (note: not happening in The Edge in the Smith Center). To participate, your child needs to memorize Proverbs 3:5-6 and recite it from memory to their Kid’s Quest Small Group Leader. They will recite the Scripture as a class in the presentation.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Sign up with your child’s leader or email marcy.davis@mcleanbible.org by October 10

Creative Arts Club September 9, 2011

Creative Arts Club Banner 385x149

Calling all 1st-6th Grade children who love to SING, ACT, and DANCE! Creative Arts Club (CAC) is the club for you and is open to new members starting Sunday, September 25, at 9:00 am in Room 1410 (1st floor).

CAC is the children’s choir of MBC sponsored by the Creative Arts Ministry. They meet weekly from September through May. It’s a place where children learn how to praise the Lord using their creative talents which includes elements of dance, drama, and singing. There are a number of reasons why participating in CAC may appeal to your family:

  1. Your children will have an opportunity to use their creative talents to worship and glorify God.
  2. It’s an alternative to repeating Kid’s Quest for families attending the 9:00 am and 10:45 am services back-to-back.
  3. With the arts being cut back or eliminated from more and more schools, CAC can be an outlet for children to explore their creativity and perform.
  4. Perhaps you have a worship-leader-in-training in your family! Participation in CAC gives your family a peek behind-the-scenes at how a worship service is put together and appreciation for what is involved.

The registration fee is $40 for an individual child or $65 for a family of multiple children. Click here to enroll now or stop at Ticket Central during services on weekends.  Scholarships are available. Regular attendance is required. Registration closes October 18.

Whether you participate in CAC or not, be on the lookout for CAC performances. They’ll be performing in services September 17/18, December 10/11, and March 31/April 1, as well as presenting a musical called “The Amazing Grace Race” in the Spring. For more information visit the CAC Blog at http://mbccactysons.blogspot.com/ or contact Dorie Howell at 703-766-8399 or dorie.howell@mcleanbible.org.

Operation Christmas Child September 6, 2011

OCC Logo Banner

For September-October’s missions project, we’re supporting Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. However, while 61 million sounds like a lot, this represents just 1% of the total population of children in the world. The shoe box is a one-time gift as new children are selected each year to receive this gift.

Children who wish to participate should bring their offering to their area’s missions project collection container (for Preschool this is on the cart at each classroom door; for elementary this is in Large Group). Note: we are not collecting supplies or completed boxes.

FAMILY SERVICE PROJECT – Bring the family to Assembly Day on Saturday, November 5, 10:00 am – 12: 00 pm, in Room 1207 as we fill the shoeboxes with gifts. This is a great hands-on service project for kids.
