Making space for new things this Christmas? Need to clear some clutter? Check out our Kid’s Quest Wish Lists to see if we can make use of your gently used items for our children’s rooms! Toys must be clean, complete, and in working condition. Please be aware of the items we can not accept (outlined below). Drop off items desired in the orange bin marked “Kid’s Quest” located under the open stairwell in the MBC Cafe on the 2nd floor.

• Anything with a television/movie character on it – ex. Disney, Sesame Street, Barney, etc.

Brrrr!!! Winter is here and it’s definitely getting chilly outside. It’s time to bundle up nice and warm in our winter coats to brave the frosty weather and impending snow. But what if you didn’t have one? For this month’s missions project we’re collecting used coats to pass onto kids in need this season. While it may be more efficient for you to gather your family’s unwanted coats yourself, don’t pass up a teachable moment with your kids! Round up your kids for a scavenger hunt in your house for all their unwanted coats – time them to see how fast they can go or offer up a small prize to whoever finds the most. Or put on a family fashion show to try on all your coats to see which ones no longer fit. Or grab a toy sword and shield to go on a grand adventure together to brave a dark, scary cave (i.e. the hall closet that’s bursting with coats that haven’t seen the light of day in years). Who knows what else is lurking in there! However you do it, gather up those unwanted coats and bring them to the green collection bins at Kid’s Quest check-in stations by Christmas Day.

Our September-October Kid’s Quest missions project was Operation Christmas Child. Together we made 356 boxes filled with gifts and the Gospel message! A big thank you to all of you who gave offering, wrapped boxes, created cards, took family photos, filled boxes, and delivered boxes to the distribution center. We hope your participation in Operation Christmas Child has been a rewarding experience for your family and provided many teachable moments with your kids. For those of you who came to Assembly Day, you may have noticed a tracking label being placed on all the completed boxes. These labels enable us to keep tabs on what happens to our boxes after they are dropped off at the distribution center. We are excited to share with you that we received word that our boxes shipped last week and are on their way now to kids in the Baltics and Balkans region, Gabon, Iraq, and Niger. Please share this with your kids and be praying together for those who will be receiving our gifts and hearing the Gospel message for the first time. As we’ve shared before, children only receive this gift once in their lifetime. But don’t estimate the power of a simple gift! Watch the moving story of Lejla Allison whose life was forever changed by a simple shoe box.

4 pm Family Christmas Eve Service: service geared specifically for families with children with a message by Pastor Joe Henriques and special appearance by KIDStuff.

Nursery (newborns – 36 months)

• No reservations required for 4pm Christmas Eve service; just show up.
• Nursery check-in opens at 3:45 pm. Please note that preschoolers need to check-in earlier than nursery-age children (see below).
• Go directly to nursery rooms to check in. There will be no computerized check-in. Use the sign-in sheet provided and you and your child will receive matching security wristbands.
• Infants/Crawlers: Room 2303; Walkers: Room 2304; Hikers (19-24 months): Room 2305; Navigators (25-29 months): Room 2302; Little Adventurers (30 months-3 years): Room 2301.

Preschoolers Explorers (3 years by 9-30-11) & Pathfinders (4 years by 9-30-11)   

• Kid’s Quest preschoolers will perform bells, “Away in The Manger,” at the beginning of the service.
• No sign up required; just show up.
• Preschoolers will practice the bells in their Kid’s Quest classrooms on weekends in December. Parents, please review basic colors with your children at home to prepare as this is how children know when to ring their bell.
• Preschoolers MUST ARRIVE AT 3:30 PM and check-in at the computers in the main lobby in order to participate. Make sure you plan enough time to find parking.
• Parents need to reserve seats for their preschoolers and pick up glow sticks for them. After they perform, they will be released to you to sit with you for the remainder of the service.
• Many children enjoy getting on stage and participating in services. However, if your child is uncomfortable doing this, please do not pressure them.

Elementary children (Kindergarten-5th Grade)

• Sit with parents in service.
• Pick up glow sticks at the doors.
